Terms of Service

Last updated:

These terms are an agreement between you and StoryFlowBuilder ("we", "us") about your use of storyflowbuilder.com, the story editor and the stories published with it (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Your account

  • You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority where you live, to create an account.
  • Give us accurate information and keep your email address up to date — we use it to verify your account, reset your password and contact you about the Service.
  • Keep your password secret. You are responsible for everything done with your account. Tell us at once at support@storyflowbuilder.com if you think someone else has used it.
  • An account is for one person. Teams and newsrooms can contact us about a team plan.

2. Free trial, subscription and payment

  • New accounts start with a 3-day free trial that includes every feature and up to 3 stories in total (deleting a story does not free up a place).
  • After the trial, the Service requires a paid subscription to one of two plans, billed monthly or yearly. Standard includes 30 stories per paid month, or 360 stories per paid year; Pro has no story limit. Stories created during a billing period count towards its allowance even if they are later deleted, and an unused allowance does not carry over.
  • Current prices, discounts and limits are shown on the pricing page. Prices are in US dollars and may exclude taxes that apply to you. A discount applies to the billing periods it is offered for, and we may end it for future periods.
  • Online card payment is not available yet. To subscribe, contact us with the plan you want; your account is unlocked as soon as we confirm your payment.
  • When a trial or subscription ends without payment, your account is paused: you can still sign in, but you cannot create or edit stories, and your published stories are taken offline. Everything comes back when payment is confirmed.
  • Unless the law requires otherwise or we agree in writing, payments for a billing period that has already started are not refunded.
  • We may change prices for future billing periods. We will tell you before a change affects you, and you can choose not to renew.

3. Your content

You keep ownership of the stories, text, images, video, audio and other material you create or upload ("your content"). To run the Service, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process, display and deliver your content, only as needed to provide the Service to you and to the readers of the stories you publish. This licence ends when your content is deleted, except for copies kept for a short time in backups.

Stories you publish are public: anyone with the link can read them, and they may appear in search engines. Drafts and archived stories are private to you.

You are responsible for your content. You confirm that you have the rights needed for everything you upload or embed, and that your content does not break the law or anyone else’s rights.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • publish content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, sexually exploitative or that encourages violence;
  • upload material that infringes copyright, trademarks, privacy or other rights;
  • distribute malware, phishing pages or deceptive content, or impersonate another person or organisation;
  • attempt to access other accounts or data, test or break our security, or get around usage limits or a suspension;
  • overload, scrape or disrupt the Service, or use it to send spam.

We may remove content or restrict accounts that break these rules, and we may report illegal content to the authorities.

5. Exported stories

You can export your stories as self-contained HTML5 packages and editable source files. You may host and share your exported stories anywhere. The player code included in an export may be used only to display those stories, not to build a competing editor or service.

6. Our Service

StoryFlowBuilder — including the editor, templates, design, software and brand — belongs to us and our licensors. These terms do not give you any rights to them other than to use the Service as described here.

We work to keep the Service available and secure, but we cannot promise that it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may improve, change or remove features over time. Please keep your own copies of important work — the export feature makes this easy.

7. Suspension and closing your account

  • You can stop using the Service at any time. To delete your account, email support@storyflowbuilder.com from the address on the account. Deleting an account permanently removes its stories and uploaded files.
  • We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts other people or the Service at risk, or where the law requires it. Where reasonable, we will tell you why and give you a chance to fix the problem.
  • Sections that by their nature should continue after an account is closed (for example sections 3, 6, 8 and 9) continue to apply.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data. Our total liability for any claim about the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer under the law that applies to you.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Service develops. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for important changes, tell you by email or in the app before they apply. If you keep using the Service after a change applies, you accept the updated terms.
